THE PROGRAMME
The Ecuador Zero Carbon Program promotes the recognition of companies that measure, reduce and compensate their carbon footprint with internationally validated standards and that encourages compensation actions to be oriented towards the remuneration of projects that conserve, restore, generate reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in Ecuador.
The purpose of the Program is to encourage the taking of actions, in the face of climate change, by natural or legal, public, private or mixed, national or foreign, legally constituted, for-profit or non-profit organizations, under a transparent and verifiable scheme. , which allows them to report their commitments and access environmental incentives
The program is regulated by ministerial agreements: N° MAAE – 2021-018, N° MAATE – 2021-046 and N° MAATE – 2021-047, and the actors are the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition, the proposing companies, the conformity assessors and the implementers of compensation.
This is an innovative Ecuadorian proposal, which will allow the country’s productive and services sector to increase its standards in the face of more demanding commercial regimes worldwide, at the same time that it contributes to the fulfillment of national goals established in the first Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).
